Featured Amenities:
This Two Story Cottage features bedrooms located on the second floor - The Master Bedroom en suite bathroom, has a separate shower from the bathtub, and it has a balcony that overlooks the Cul de Sac of the quaint little neighborhood Community. It's a perfect place for a cup of coffee (so make sure to bring your favorite Keurig pods, or coffee for the coffee maker or French Press, your choice) as the family and friends sleep in. There is a shared full bathroom for the other two bedrooms. The additional bedrooms you find that one of the bedrooms has a queen sized bed and the other has twin beds; there is also a screened safety railing to put on one of the twin beds for a small child or toddler.
On the first floor, the living area has a comfortable sectional to sit on and plan the day, or snuggle into as you watch a movie on the television. There is a half bath and a laundry room on this level too. The kitchen is a perfect size for the Chef to twist and twirl about making delicious creations from all the fresh vegetables from Cheryl’s Farm Fresh, just north of the City and so worth the drive! Dine inside or out - there are plenty of seats to accommodate either way. Dining outside has its benefits for many reasons, in the spring or summer you may just find yourself serenaded by tree frogs and cicadas looking for love deep within the woods just behind the house. In the Fall, the rustle of the leaves and the dampness of soil bring about the harvest and just think of all the amazing fresh fruit and vegetables that will be available at all the local farms! Maybe even charter a boat from one of many fishing companies, like Lured Inn Charters, and go catch your limit and bring home some fresh Lake Trout to grill and serve with all the veggies you bought - guaranteed to make memories that last a lifetime.
Shades of Summer, is also a perfect place for those of you that are looking to hit all the bicycle trails that can be found along the lakeshore. The Van Buren Bike Trail is located a half a block away at the end of the cul-de-sac. This trail is best suited for mountain bikes so be warned. It links South Haven with Van Buren State Park and the City of Hartford. If you haven’t been to Hartford, you should. It’s a super cute little City that is transforming into a destination trip. Taqueria Y Mariscos El Primo llc is an amazing place for authentic Mexican food in Hartford. Load up on a few carbs, and then ride back to South Haven for an evening out on the town. There are so many fun places to see live music, grab a martini or a locally brewed craft beer, catch a movie, or simply have a well deserved treat after riding the trails - Captain Lou’s is a good place to start the evening and adventure out from there.
For those of you with little kids, Kids Corner is just a quick walk a block away. Kids Corner has this amazing giant fort for kids to play in. The park even has a fan page online. From there you can walk across the street and watch the lake, or the sunsets on the hill. Kids Corner and the lake will surely give your children an experience that will be so memorable they will ask before you leave when they can come back.
You will find that there are wagons, extra chairs, toys and picnic basket and a few coolers for you to use while you stay at Shades of Summer, out in the garage. There is no street parking within this gated community as per the Homeowners Association - but the garage can hold one car and the driveway can hold 2 or more depending on the size.
Shades of Summer, will surely leave an impression in your memories, those of your family and your friends, that will play upon your heartstrings and call to you all year long till we see you, your family, and your friends - back here again.

We love Shades of Summer. Great spot - its quiet and peaceful but still walkable to the beach and town. Its also the most well-appointed rental weve ever stayed at - kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and we love that things like extra paper goods, soap, laundry and dish detergent are already provided. It makes for a much nicer stay and really feels like home away from home. We were especially grateful for the use of beach chairs, wagon, and sand toys- its a huge help not to have to pack these things. And the home being dog-friendly is a gigantic plus - we love being able to bring our pup and not arrange for a sitter.
Texts and emails from Shores were super helpful and friendly, and made it easy to get in and out of the property. Thank you for another great week in South Haven at Shades of Summer!

The team was great. When I called to inquire about the property they were able to answer all my questions. They gave a lot of suggestions of things to see and do.
