Gather at the Shore, which is located just outside the beautiful City of Coloma, MI at 5264 M-63, on the shore of Lake Michigan can host up to 20 guests between two fabulously gorgeous homes. The Lake House (which is pictured first) sleeps up to 8 guests, and the East Cottage can easily host and accommodate up to 12 guests. These homes are for those families that can appreciate and value the intrinsic nature and beauty of Contemporary Architecture and Interior design - as well as, a love for life, family and nature.

This home is perfect for Family Reunions, Corporate Retreats and or Grad School Break-out Sessions. This home is actually perfect to host any large gathering of like minded creative people who love life and relish positive energy and influences in their lives.

Gather at the Shore is conducive for communicating and interacting with one another. The Contemporary Coastal Modern Interior Design found within both of these homes just cascades positive energy, harmony and creativity. Both homes are perfect examples of contemporary form and function like the works of John Pawson or Lily Kwong. Inside the Lake House, the simplicity of the horizontal and vertical lines are highlighted with the natural elements of the structure. The symmetry of the wooden beams, floors, and exposed brick create a natural linear movement to place an emphasis on the oversized windows that frame the beauty of the lake. The large windows frame the forever evolving natural beauty of the lakeshore perfectly, and they capture the sunsets of Lake Michigan like an Etel Adnan painting; simple fluidity of color and life.

The East Cottage pushes a more moderate Modern Design in the interior in contrast to the contemporary influences found in the Lake House. There is a feeling of Grete Schütte-Lihotzky and Frank Lloyd Wright in the East Cottage. An efficient and simplified user friendly design like Schütte-Lihotzky, and the honesty found in the materials and craftsmanship of the prairie style open floor plan that Wright embraced. The soft pastel colors of the walls and the contrasting bright primary and secondary colors found in the artwork, linens and furniture are perfectly balanced to allow the energy from the building materials to resonate throughout the home.

Both of these homes are perfectly crafted for comfort, warmth and harmony. They will provide you and your guests with a positive influential energy every morning, and every night, as you stay here. These homes will inspire creativity and laughter. They will motivate you to explore and embrace nature. These homes are influential to your spirit - their energy will revitalize you and allow your heart to sing every morning. Think about waking up to the fresh breeze straight off the lake and walking out to the kitchen to feel the warm glow of unconditional love from all the smiling faces that are there enjoying breakfast. The rooms in these two homes are spacious, bright, and full of energy. In the bedrooms you will find that all the beds have silky soft cotton linens that will embrace your body at night, ushering in sweet dreams of plenty. The hot water in all of the bathrooms can be soothing after a long day of adventure and exploration. These two homes, as modern and contemporary as they are, make sure that the functionality doesn’t ignore comfort for the sake of form within.

Watching the sunset on the deck at the Lake House will become a small tradition while you stay here. The coloration of the sky can be quite breathtaking. The saturation of color can be abundant with pinks, oranges, brilliant reds and deep golds. The Lake can be moody; one day it can be as smooth as glass and the next the waves can be fierce and full of blue-green color. Nonetheless, the Lake is one of the greatest gifts we have on this planet and to just stand there, at the shores, letting your feet sink into the sand as the waves tickle your ankles is an experience to remember.

Gather at the Shore is a perfect place to: launch day trips up and down the Blue Star Highway, enjoy the warmth of the sun on the pristine beach, kayak the shore as you explore the deep blues and greens of the water, watch the majestic sunsets and share a memory or two as you do - but most importantly the experiences and adventures you, your family, your friends, or your colleagues will have here…will last a lifetime; and what a priceless gift that will be.

A few ideas for places to eat - For amazing Pizza, a local favorite, is DiMaggio’s Pizza and Burgers. DiMaggio is a Cult Classic Hangout for those who grew up around Coloma, Covert and the South Haven area. For a burger that is out of this world, Easy Street Inn Food & Spirits is the place to go - their Easy Street Burger is more than a mouthful.

A few ideas for places to check out: Contessa Wine Cellars is a great place to pick up a case or two of wine to take back home, or enjoy while staying here. Or there is Jollay Orchard, a wonderful U-pick place with amazing fruits, cider and donuts. A day trip into the Art District of Benton Harbor is worth the drive. Benton Harbor has been working hard to revitalize the beauty and charm of this CIty. Pouring millions into the Arts, Restaurants and Harbors. A day trip to South Haven is a must for most people as well. Check out the lighthouse and all the charm of the Mom & Pop Stores, while you are there - Clementine’s is some of the best onion rings in Michigan. There are people who travel from Wisconsin and Illinois to just order a large tack of those amazing treats.

Gorgeous lake views. Houses were extensively stocked with all kitchen ware. Great spaces for relaxing with a large group. Hot tub, fire pit, kitchen islands, and lake house deck all made gathering easy and fun. Attractive Hagar Beach is 2 minute drive north of property. We spent everyday there swimming and relaxing. The drop off to Lake Michigan is steep. We had old enough kids so we didn't worry, but younger kids would be a challenge. Would have preferred lawn service and mosquito service not arrive during visit and/or dinner time. Overall, beautiful updated houses, with good location near beaches, trails, upick, and 10-20minutes to Benton Harbor/St. Joseph/South Haven. Rental staff were very responsive and nice.

This property is more than we expected in so many ways. The views are stunning and the homes themselves are beautiful. We had a party of 10 adults and 8 children (two age 1 and under). The smaller home was great for the big kids - they LOVED having their own space and a sleep over. The big house was just as lovely. We pretty well lived on the deck. Some items of note: - If you have littles who are crawling or just learning to walk, bring a baby gate with you. We were able to create some make shift ones to keep them off the stairs, but I would bring one the next time. - If you are planning on making pancakes bring a griddle. We typically bring one but didn't think to this trip. Wish we had. - We brought citronella candles with us and were very glad we did. Bugs are expected up there, just glad we had the extra help with them. - We wish we had brought our own set of knives for cooking. While the kitchens are both very well stocked the knives game was a bit weak. This is something we're probably going to do for all our trips though. - Flashlights! Walking in between the two houses when it got dark was a bit dangerous without any light. Fortunately we all had cell phones but they would have been nice. - While the listing didn't specifically say there was beach access we looked at Google Earth and it appeared there may have been some. Due to erosion however the water is not accessible from the property. It looks like there might be some plans to put a nice deck out near where the stairs are today (the bottom of which appear to be washing away), it was a bit nerve wrecking with no railing on the landing that is currently at the top to sit at. We had a rule that kiddos weren't allowed there without an adult but still gave some of us heartburn. We loved this location and will definitely consider heading up this way again.

We had a nice time at gather at the shore. The houses are as described. The East cottage does not have air conditioning which is disclosed but did make for some hot and humid sleeping. The trees do keep the house cooler but you can only get the cross breeze if the upstairs bedroom doors are open, which was hard for us because of babies sleeping in there. In the main house the flooring in the bedrooms didn't seem to be completed. During our stay the stairway to the beach was unusable, but even if it would have been usable there would have been very little beach there. There was a public beach very close, walking distance, but on a fast moving highway so walking with little kids might not be advised. Overall it was a nice property and as described.
