Additional Notes Hi!
I just wanted to provide some feedback for anyone who may consider staying at Gobles' Get-Away near Coloma. I believe my family was the first to stay in the house since they redecorated and refurbished it. The spotless bedrooms and baths are very nicely appointed and full of fresh-smelling linens. In addition, the comfy sectional with throw blankets and big HD TV in the living room made it impossible to keep from settling down for a cozy evening. They left a very complete where-to-go and what-to-do book, so choices for dinners out were a snap. It's a very solidly built brick home with I believe plaster & lath. The house is stable & quiet. Even though it is right on a state highway, there was NO road noise in the house - even during the night on the road side when the wind was still. We did have a very windy weekend, but it still was quiet in the house, and there are - surprisingly - places down at the beach where the wind was blocked. We could easily have sunbathed (chairs, cooking utensils, etc., are all down at the beach in a box) if we were so inclined. The house even includes a PIANO and some nice songbooks! Much "view-cutting" has been done: selective pruning of the trees between the house and the water to provide expansive views of Lake Michigan, and the sunsets were breathtaking. The area is very nice with St. Joe 8 miles down the road if you were interested in an art museum, a movie, serious shopping and great eating. There is also a great pizza place and little grocery shop within a mile if you just want to stay close. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Wonderful place that makes you feel like you're on vacation the moment you step through the door and see the gleaming wood floors, fireplace and dining windows overlooking the lake. I can't say enough. Sincerely, Nancy Fegan |
